Combined Bachelor's/Master's Degrees

Fast-track your career with our growing number of 3/2 and 4/1 combined degree programs allow you to pursue a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in five years instead of the typical six, allowing you to save tuition dollars and pursue job opportunities requiring more than a bachelor’s degree. Interested in a career in the health professions? Binghamton University’s pre-health program prepares students for careers in medicine, dentistry, optometry, veterinary medicine, podiatry, nutrition, physical or occupational therapy and chiropractic. Program includes one-on-one advising and assistance in finding internships and gaining experience. Our students have a proven track record of admission into the nation’s top medical schools. Our early assurance program guarantees graduate admission at partner schools at SUNY Buffalo, and SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. Want to be an attorney? Law schools do not require specific courses for admission, however, they do look for a wide-range of challenging undergraduate courses which emphasize writing and develop logical and analytical thinking skills. Binghamton University’s pre-law program provides outstanding preparation for graduate study in law through rigorous academic coursework, strong advising and many pre-law organizations and activities. Students who graduate from Binghamton with a major in English and a concentration in rhetoric go on to have successful careers in the field of communications. The major allows students to combine a passion for writing and spoken words with hands-on experience in internships that include working for a local television station or newspaper, or even writing marketing materials and blogging for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Psychology, Counseling and Public Service

Interested in a career in psychology or counseling? Binghamton offers several ways to accomplish your goal.

The Psychology Department in Harpur College of Arts and Sciences offers a bachelor's degree in psychology, and provides students with a solid experimental background for further postgraduate study and training in all areas of psychology and related fields. Many graduates go on to earn a master's or a PhD and become researchers or clinical psychologists. Learn more>>

The College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA) offers undergraduate coursework in human development, which focuses on children, youth and families; community organizations; leadership and advocacy; counseling and education; public/non-profit service; social justice; and immigration policies and services. Undergraduate students receive careful advisement, gain "real-world" experience through internships and thrive in lively, discussion-based classes. Students are prepared to enter graduate studies in fields such as social work, public administration, education, and careers in public and non-profit service in community organizations and local, state and federal government agencies. College of Community and Public Affairs

Students in the College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA) learn the skills necessary for solving community and social problems. The College of Community and Public Affairs prepares undergraduate and graduate students for successful professions and field studies in community service, social work, public and non-profit administration, government, and student affairs administration. Undergraduate students can minor in education,  and can seek teaching opportunities by successfully completing studies in Binghamton’s Harpur College of Arts and Sciences and then combine a bachelor’s degree with a Master’s of Arts in Teaching awarded by the Graduate School of Education.
