Students will be notified of admission decisions via email.

All accepted international students with J-1 or F-1 Visas are required to submit an International Student Financial Statement with bank statements attached, verifying adequate funds to pay for one, full year of enrollment.

Financial aid is not offered to international students.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) offers a wide range of programs and services to meet needs:

Check Email Approximately 5 days after we receive application, you will receive from Binghamton University a B-Number and User ID via email. Once you receive your B-Number and User ID, activate your password. You must do this before you can successfully check the status of your application.  

Submit Stars Header GraphicFRESHMEN: Obtain a copy of your unofficial high school transcript from your school counselor. Then create your student record online through STARS (Self-Reported Testing and Academic Record) at http://www.selfreportedtranscripts.com/for_students.html.  Follow the online instructions, and enter all your coursework, grades and test scores. You will need your B-Number to submit. STARS will appear on your applicant record in approximately one week.

TRANSFERS: Submit an official transcript(s) from all colleges or universities you have attended. If it is not in English, please attach a certified translated copy of the transcript and, if necessary, an explanation of the local grading system. If you have earned less than 24 college credits at the time of application, an official, final high-school transcript is required with a certified translation (if not in English).

International Graphics Header

If you are a non-native English speaker, we will need proof of English proficiency.

You must submit ONE of the following tests and scores:

TOEFL: Minimum scores for all programs except for School of Management: Internet-based: 80; Paper-based: 550; Computer-based: 213 (Binghamton's TOEFL code is 2535). The School of Management requires an 85 TOEFL score. Students with a TOEFL under 80 may be conditionally admitted.*

SAT: Minimum score on Critical reading for all programs except School of Management is 500. The School of Management requires a minimum score of 550. Students with a critical reading score that is less than 500 may be conditionally admitted.*

Binghamton's SAT code is 2535. Binghamton only accepts electronic scores. Do not have your scores "rushed" via paper. 

IELTS: 6.5, with no individual bands below 5.0

Note to transfer applicants: If you have had 2 semesters of English courses (non-ESL) at an English-speaking college/university, you do NOT need to send us a TOEFL or SAT score.

*Conditional Admits: Binghamton admits a select number of students with an SAT-V below 500 or TOEFL below 80 on a conditional basis. Some will be required to participate in Binghamton's Academic Success Program, which builds a foundation for a smooth entry into academic and community life at Binghamton while you earn credits toward your degree. Other students may be required to take an English as a Second Language (ESL) exam and course their first semester.
