Alumni (and their dogs) show Binghamton spirit on social media
By Steve Seepersaud
The famed Westminster Dog Show took place in New York earlier this month. So, we thought it would be fun to give Binghamton alumni a showcase — on a smaller scale — for their furry friends.
On the Alumni Association Facebook page, we invited alumni to post photos of their dogs in Binghamton green. Jessie Winkler '12, MAT '13 of Greenlawn, N.Y., won the contest for this photo of Winnie, her 12 1/2-year-old cockapoo.
"She loves showing school pride for Binghamton, which is both my and my mom's alma mater," Winkler said. "[Winnie's] first Binghamton T-shirt was my hand-me-down child's shirt, which was a bit big on her. She now owns a toddler Binghamton shirt and loves her Binghamton stuffed dog, but hopes the bookstore will start carrying items made for dogs."
Although the contest has concluded, you are certainly welcome to post pictures of your pet in Binghamton gear on our Facebook page. (While you are there, you can see the other contest entries; just go down our timeline to mid-February.) You can also share pictures that you take of yourself (and your friends) at an alumni event or during a trip back to campus.
If you're looking to get alumni together on or off campus, you can share your news through our Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn pages and groups. Or send us your message through our social media submission form and we can post it for you (subject to terms and conditions).
