University launches major fundraising campaign
At a first-of-its-kind online event in April, Binghamton University launched its second comprehensive gifts campaign. Bold. Brilliant. Binghamton. The Campaign for Binghamton University was launched via a website that included a live, streamed announcement of the campaign goal of $95 million, videos featuring dozens of University faculty and staff, 360-degree photos of campus locations, and chat rooms hosted by Binghamton faculty, students and alumni.

University recognizes 100,000th graduate
Brian May of the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science was recognized by President Lois B. DeFleur and Anthony Kendall, president of the Alumni Association, as the University’s 100,000th graduate.
Celebrating legacy graduates
Binghamton University welcomed new legacy families to its alumni community. For the parents, seeing their children graduate from their alma mater gave them a chance to look at how much the University has changed over the years and what has remained the same, as well as adding a special sentimentality to the ceremonies.

Campus celebrates DeFleur's tenure
On an afternoon in which faculty, staff and students paid tribute to retiring President Lois B. DeFleur, the guest of honor graciously returned the favor.
Interim president and provost named
C. Peter Magrath, who served as president of Binghamton University 1972-74, was nominated by SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher to serve as interim president of Binghamton University while a national search is underway for a permanent hire. Magrath has identified his choice for interim provost — Jean-Pierre Mileur, former dean of Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, and professor and chair of English.
