Nominate a Binghamton graduate for an Alumni Association award
By Steve Seepersaud
Do you know of a Binghamton graduate whose accomplishments are truly extraordinary, who makes you feel proud to be connected to Binghamton and who deserves to be recognized by the entire alumni network of more than 114,000?
If so, we invite you to submit a nomination for the Alumni Association Special Recognition Awards Program. Each year, our goal is to recognize those alumni who have excelled in service to their professions, communities and the University.
Please visit our website today to submit nominations for any or all of the following awards:
The Glenn G. Bartle Distinguished Alumnus/a Award recognizes and honors a graduate who has distinguished himself or herself since graduating from the University and serves as a memorial to Dr. Glenn G. Bartle, the first president of Harpur College. This award honors alumni who have rendered outstanding voluntary service to the Binghamton University community, while also serving their communities, their careers and their country.
The Edward Weisband Distinguished Alumnus/a Award for Public Service or Contribution to Public Affairs recognizes one alumnus or alumna each year whose life, work, career and contributions exemplify the highest standards of service and deepest dedication to the sustenance of the common good.
The Lois B. DeFleur Distinguished Young Alumni Award recognizes graduates from within the last 10 years who are established alumni leaders or demonstrate potential to become future leaders. Criteria include demonstrated leadership capability, substantial commitment to service of others, demonstration of potential for leadership in the long term, and substantial commitment to the University and Alumni Association.
Please submit your nominations online by Friday, Dec. 20. Our Alumni Association awards will be presented at a special ceremony on campus in April.

SUBMIT A NOMINATION by Dec. 31 for the Alumni Association board. We're looking for graduates who are eager to give back to the University and promote alumni volunteerism. Board members work with alumni relations staff on key projects, directly participating in committee work, events, and activities.
SHARE YOUR EXPERTISE WITH US! The Alumni Relations office is frequently called upon to recommend alumni who are expert speakers. If you are well-versed, because of your education and professional experience, in subjects including national security, politics, technology, career networking, environmental studies or etiquette, please contact Melinda Holicky, associate director for volunteer engagement. Please include your name, class year, and a brief description of your experience and expertise. Supporting material could include a c.v. or link to your website.
Take home a piece of Newing College. The Alumni Association and Uncommon Goods (founded by David Bolotsky '85) offer alumni the opportunity to purchase banks made from mailboxes salvaged from the Newing Dining Hall. A Newing bank can be a great keepsake to remind you of your time as a student at Binghamton. Banks also make great gifts! Find out more and purchase a bank today.
