About 2,000 alumni, friends, students, faculty and staff members gathered at Homecoming 2009, held on campus Oct. 2-4. The weekend included a number of reunion gatherings and family-friendly events.
Alumni Association recognition awards presented
The Binghamton University Alumni Association presented its annual recognition awards during Homecoming 2009. The awards reception took place on Friday, Oct. 2 at the University's Art Museum; attendees also had the opportunity to see the museum's latest exhibit Full Spectrum: Natural Fibers, Quilts & the Textile Arts.
50th Anniversary for "Original Community"
Through the years, Dickinson Community has changed in some ways and remained the same in other ways. No matter what, it's still home. That was the feeling among Dickinson alumni who returned to campus for Homecoming so they could celebrate the 50th anniversary of Binghamton's "original community".
Class of '84 celebrates 25th anniversary
Friends from the Class of 1984 picked up right where they left off, refusing to skip a beat after 25 years of not seeing one another. The group held a reunion during Homecoming weekend with, among other things, a special tailgate party and Saturday night reception. Many class members shared a sense of overwhelming excitement to be on campus after the many transformations it has gone through, especially alongside missed companions.
Pi Lam brothers reunite
Alumni of Pi Lambda Phi know the fraternity stands for more than a good time. The Pi Lam reunion at Homecoming 2009 shows the fraternity, above all else, is a brotherhood, extending its embrace beyond the four years of college, connecting one another in a network of support.
Athletics Hall of Fame inductions
Binghamton University's athletics department enshrined its 2009 Hall of Fame class at the 14th Annual Induction Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 2. Elected to membership for 2009 were (pictured from left to right below) track athlete Jewdyer Osborne (1994-98), wrestler Lester Ware (1979-82), track athlete Kate Mullins Zanot (1998-01) and tennis player Adam Marcus (1994-98).
