Arduino Exposition

Aida Tareke of Mt. Vernon, a freshman engineering student in the Engineering Design Division (EDD) of the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science, models "The Signal Sweater" during the Arduino Exposition in the Mandela Room at the University Union. Eighty-two student teams demonstrated interactive objects using Arduino, an open-source prototyping platform. Projects such as a Turn Signal Biking Jacket, an Air Guitar and many others were presented. Freshman engineering students enter through the common first-year program that provides a comprehensive view of the engineering profession by bringing all of the elements "“ science, technology, math and communications "“ together. Team-based projects continue to be a cornerstone for EDD as students explore the many branches of engineering while gaining the technical knowledge and communications skills they need to be successful as professionals.
