Southern Tier Law Enforcement Memorial Association Ceremony

Southern Tier Law Enforcement Memorial Association Ceremony

Binghamton University hosts the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Memorial Association Ceremony to honor officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty in front of the Couper Administration Building last April. A motorcade of police cars from the city of Binghamton drove to the site of the ceremony, which kicked off a week of commemorative activities in the Southern Tier. The ceremony included the raising of two flags, placement of a wreath, the reading of the names of fallen officers and a 20-gun salute. Binghamton University police officers formed the color guard to raise the U.S. flag. Pictured here, Tech Sgt. Joesph M. Hommel of the New York State Police lays 16 roses, one for each officer killed in action since 1923.
