Binghamton University golfer Keith Hendrickson (Syosset, N.Y.) will open play at the U.S. Amateur Championship Monday at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. The junior-to-be will tee off Monday at 2:14 p.m. on Oakland Hills’ 6,618-yard par 70 North Course. He will then finish stroke play with 18 holes on Tuesday, beginning at 9:14 a.m. on the 6,988-yard par 70 South Course.
A total of 312 golfers will play 36 holes of stroke play before the field is reduced to the low 64 scorers for match play, beginning on Wednesday. The tournament concludes with a 36-hole final on Sunday. ESPN will broadcast match play beginning Wednesday (1-4 p.m.), and NBC will pick up the coverage on the weekend. Hendrickson is already enjoying an outstanding summer of amateur golf, having advanced to the round of 32 at the U.S. Public Links Championship in July. He earned a berth in the U.S. Amateur by placing third at the 36-hole sectional qualifier, held August 6 at Long Island National Golf Course. Hendrickson shot 73-77=150 to finish third among 80 golfers. He birdied the 18th hole in the afternoon round to gain the final qualifying spot by one stroke. | ||||
