On Smucker: Talented infielder returning to starting role
at shortstop ... team leader. As a Sophomore (2005): Started all 48 games ... had .302 batting average ... led the team with 46 runs scored ... batted .324 in league games ... had 13 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games ... hit safely in 17 out of 19 games between April 6 and May 5 ... hit 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI against Delaware State. As a Freshman (2003): Started all 50 games played ... ranked fifth on the team in hits and RBI ... made just 12 errors in 180 chances (.933) ... had nine multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games ... during two-month stretch from March to May hit safely in 27 of 36 games (.289) ... never went more than one game without registering a hit ... two of first three collegiate home runs came in separate games against Maine. In High School: Four-year standout for Lancaster Mennonite High School ... twice was named first team all-league shortstop ... graduated holding schools all-time hit and home run records.
