HANOVER, N.H. - Senior Adam Fuchs (Plainview, N.Y./JFK-Plainview) shot a course-record 3-under 67 to lead the Bearcats to a tie atop the leaderboard at the 17-team Dartmouth Invitational after Saturday's first round. Binghamton shot a 294, as did Ivy League schools Yale and Harvard. Boston College (295), Central Connecticut (295) and America East rival Hartford (298) remained within striking distance heading into Sunday's final 18 holes at the Hanover Country Club. Fuchs delivered five birdies - three on the front side - and was the lone player to shoot below par. He holds a three-stroke lead over players from Yale and Fordham and the rest of the 97-man field. He posted birdies at Nos. 1, 3, 5, 10 and 15, which more than offset a pair of bogeys. Hanover CC, a par 70, played at 6,467 yards. Also for Binghamton, junior Joe Kunz (Webster, N.Y./Monroe CC) shot a 75, junior Keith Hendrickson (Syosset, N.Y.) and freshman Brad Moulton (Orangeville, Ontario) carded 76s, and junior Eric Vinal (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) came in with an 80. Binghamton will tee off Sunday at approximately 1 p.m. |
