Immediate Release: April 16, 2005 ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Binghamton struggled to an opening-round 313 and was saddled in 14th place out of 20 schools halfway through the Navy Invitational, played Saturday at the 6,556-yard par-71 U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course. Division III Guilford leads the tournament after carding a 291. George Washington (298), St. Bonaventure (304) and Millersville (314) round out the top four. No BU player scored better than a six-over-par 77, though all five golfers were bunched within four strokes of each other. Sophomore Aaron Ungvarsky (Wilmington, Mass.) shot 77 and was in a tie for 29th place among 105 golfers. Classmate Jeff Wolniewicz (West Seneca, N.Y.) was at 78, juniors Casey Wheet (Elmira, N.Y.) and Kevin Crawford (Lockport, N.Y.) each shot 79, and freshman Zach Vinal (Syracuse, N.Y.), back to the lineup after missing two tournaments, recorded an 80. The final round gets underway Sunday at 9:30 a.m. |
