Immediate Release: January 30, 2005 Binghamton, which trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half, used a 19-2 run to pull ahead by seven, 51-44, with 11:44 remaining. But the Huskies responded with a decisive 12-0 run, and wound up outscoring BU 25-8 to end the game. The Bearcats trailed 62-59 with 3:49 to play and had a pair of open looks at the basket, but missed both shots and NU junior guard Jose Juan Barea converted a three-point play at the other end to stretch the margin back to six. The Huskies sank four three throws and recorded three of their 11 blocks in the final two minutes to seal their sixth win in the last seven games. "It's very disappointing to lose after making that run to take the lead in the second half," head coach Al Walker said. "The difference between us and Northeastern is that they know how to win and we don't. They made plays and we didn't ... it's as simple as that." The Bearcats managed just two field goals in the final six minutes (2-for-12) and shot just 8-for-28 (29%) in the second half. Binghamton also committed 19 turnovers for the game. Barea led four NU players in double figures with 17 points. Freshman forward Shawn James added 14 points and six blocks. For Binghamton, junior forward Schafer Jackson (Provo, Utah) scored a season-high 15 points, junior guard Andre Heard (Oklahoma City, Okla.) netted 12 points, and junior forward Sebastian Hermenier (Rockville, Md.) chipped in 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. It was Hermenier's third double-double of the season. Binghamton returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Hartford at 7 p.m. |
