Immediate Release: February 19, 2004 Contact: David Berman (berman@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-2956 Bearcats picked sixth in men's lacrosse poll Official Conference Release BOSTON, Mass.--The America East Conference released its preseason poll of conference coaches today, and Binghamton received a total of 15 points and was selected to finish in sixth place in the seven-team conference. America East newcomer UMBC received five first place votes and 47 points to finish atop the poll. Defending champion Albany received the other two first place votes and was picked to finish second with 42 points. Vermont came in third, followed by Stony Brook and Quinnipiac ahead of Binghamton. The Bearcats return 16 letterwinners and nine starters from last year's squad that went 4-8 in just its second season of varsity competition. Added to that mix are 12 newcomers who will make an immediate impact on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field. Head coach Ed Stephenson's squad on March 6 with a road game against Lafayette. |
