Immediate Release: April 29, 2006 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Binghamton men's lacrosse suffers 20-9 setback at Albany, will carry No. 4 seed into America East Conference Tournament Box score ALBANY, N.Y.-- Frank Resetartis had a game-high five goals and three assists and Merrick Thompson added four goals, powering Albany (7-6, 3-2 AE) to a 20-9 win over Binghamton (7-7, 2-3 AE) in the final regular season game for both squads. With the setback, Binghamton is the No. 4 seed in the upcoming America East Conference Tournament and will face top-seeded and host UMBC on Friday at 5 p.m. Although the Bearcats jumped out to a 3-0 advantage just 4:48 into the game, the host Great Danes ripped off the next 13 goals. The Great Danes tied the game at 3-3 at the end of the first quarter and went up 9-3 at the half. Things were no better in the third quarter as Albany went on an 8-2 blitz to go up 17-5. Although the Bearcats netted four goals (to Albany's three in the fourth quarter, the outcome had long been decided. Junior attack Rob Williams (Fulton, N.Y.) had a team-high two goals and one assist. Junior attack Jeff Santucci (Cicero, N.Y.) added a pair of goals and freshman attack Chris Mulheron (Canandaigua, N.Y.) tallied a game-high four assists. |
