Immediate Release: March 9, 2005 Contact: Thomas Moore II (sports@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-2956 Men's lacrosse falls to Drexel 8-4 Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa.-- Binghamton (0-3) held Drexel (4-1) scoreless in the second half but the seven goal lead held by the Dragons at halftime was to much for the Bearcats too overcome. Binghamton lost its third-straight game with its 8-4 loss to Drexel at Franklin Field. The Bearcats let Drexel score seven unanswered goals to end the first half. Junior Scott Mitchell (Smithtown, N.Y.) contribued with a goal in the first quarter to tie the score at 1-1. Binghamton cut the Dragons' led in the third quarter with pair of goals by sophomore Matt McNamara (Oswego, N.Y.). In the fourth quarter junior Brian Chaapel (Penn Yan, N.Y.) added a goal with just over four minutes to play. The Bearcats held Drexel without a shot in the fourth quarter. Freshman Stephen Smith (Canandaigua, N.Y.) handed out two assists, while junior Phil Cavallo (Cedarhurst, N.Y.) had one of his own. Junior goalie Kevin McKeown (Brewster, N.Y.) made six saves during his 60 minutes in front of the net. The Bearcats will return to action at Cornell on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game. |
