The loss marked the fourth time this season that the Bearcats have gone up against a team ranked in the Top 25. Athan Ianucci and Ryan Vilar each scored a game-high two goals for the host Pride. Binghamton got a goal and an assist from sophomore Matt McNamara (Oswego, N.Y.) and Jeff Santucci (Cicero, N.Y.). With the score tied 3-3 at the half, Hofstra ripped off three unanswered goals in the opening 6:30 of the third quarter. Vilar had one of his goals during that run. Sophomore Rob Williams (Fulton, N.Y.) cut the deficit to 6-4 with 4:19 remaining in the quarter but Ianucci scored perhaps the biggest goal of the game with one second left in the period. Binghamton got to within 7-5 on a goal by sophomore Jeff Kaylor (Beverly, Mass.) at the 9:44 mark of the fourth quarter but could get no closer the rest of the way. The Bearcats have their home-opener on April 3 against Vermont at noon. |
