POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.--Senior midfielder Keith Augeri and freshman midfielder Danilo each netted a goal, leading Binghamton (1-2) to a 2-0 win over Marist (0-2) in men's soccer action on Sunday. The win was the Bearcats' first under new head coach Paul Marco. "Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how we played," Marco said. "The team was down after losing the first two games but they certainly have a bounce in their legs now. Since we'll be on the road for a while it's good to get this first road win." Augeri connected from 20 yards out when he took a pass from senior midfielder Stephen Neuman and drilled it home at the 42:14 mark of the game. Danilo extended the lead to 2-0 at the 72:41 mark when he converted a free kick from 25 yards out. "Danilo's goal was brilliant,"Marco said. "He has been working hard after practices on set kicks and it paid off today." Junior goalkeeper Ian Wendel and freshman goalkeeper Matt Nolan each played a half to share the shutout. |
