soccer team blanks Siena 1-0 Junior forward Stephen Bruce (Buckie, Scotland) netted his second goal of the season, leading Binghamton (4-1-1) to a 1-0 win over Siena (0-4) in men's soccer action on Wednesday at the West Gym Field. With the win, the Bearcats continue their best season since starting 5-1-1 in 1993. In addition, it marked the first time that Binghamton has shut out three consecutive opponents since 1992. Despite being outshot 9-8, Bruce converted on the key play of the game when he took a pass from freshman forward Mike Greenberg (Bellmore, N.Y./ Bellmore) right in front of the goal. He then fired the ball into the net at the 62:18 mark. "We did enough to win the game and are happy to get another shutout win," head coach Paul Marco said. "But we need to play better to keep winning ." Sophomore goalkeeper Stefan Gonet (Refrewshire, Scotland/ Trinity) recorded his third consecutive shutout and fifth on the season, making four saves against Siena Up next, the Bearcats host Marist on Saturday at 1 p.m. GAME SUMMARY SCORING: Bruce (B), assisted by Greenberg, 62:18.
