VESTAL, N.Y. — Freshman Mike Guglielmucci score a pair of second-half goals, leading St. Joseph’s to a 2-1 win over Binghamton in the opening round of the Rider Tournament. It was the Bearcats’ first game under head coach Paul Marco since he was hired last February.

Binghamton got on the board in the first half on a goal by sophomore forward Stephen Bruce at the 42:40 mark. Freshman midfielder Kyle Antos recorded the assist. It was, however, missed opportunities in the first half that cost Binghamton dearly down the stretch.

“We came out ready to play but we weren’t able to capitalize on a pair of empty-net shots,” said Marco. “That hurt us because it would have given us a cushion going into the second half. When St. Joseph’s scored those two goals in the second half, we didn’t respond like we should have.”

Cuglielmucci’s goals came at 64:15 and 75:14.

Binghamton faces host Rider on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Rider lost to LIU 1-0 in the other first-round game in the tournament.
