Immediate Release: October 19, 2005 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Binghamton men's soccer defeats Stony Brook 1-0 on goal by Antos Box score STONY BROOK, N.Y..-- Junior forward Kyle Antos (Endicott, N.Y.) scored his second goal of the season, leading Binghamton (10-4-1, 3-2-0 AE) to a 1-0 win over Stony Brook (8-3-3, 3-1-1 AE) in an America East Conference men's soccer game on Wednesday night at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. With the victory, Binghamton clinched its third consecutive season with at least 10 victories. It also marked the fourth straight season that the Bearcats have defeated the Seawolves. The goal by Antos was set up by senior back Darius Ravangard (Utica, N.Y.), who fired a long pass toward the goal box. Ravangard's pass was headed by junior forward Peter Sgueglia (Schenectady, N.Y.) toward Antos, who was stationed 10 yards in front of the goal. Antos then fired the ball into the left corner of the net at the 37:12 mark of the game. Binghamton and Stony Brook each fired nine shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Bertoni (Owego, N.Y.) made two saves to record his seventh solo shutout of the season. The Bearcats return home for a 2 p.m. game on Saturday against Albany. |
