Binghamton Track & Field competes at Bucknell Open and Lou
Onesty Invitational
Juniors
Erica
Angell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Stacy
Kramer (Loudonville, N.Y.) each qualified for the ECAC
Championships, highlighting the Binghamton track and field teams'
showing at the Bucknell Open this past weekend.
Angell placed third out of 27 runners in the 10,000 with a time
of 36:57. Kramer was seventh out of 43 runners in the 5,000 with
a personal-best time of 17:27. The Bearcats' other top placer
was senior Lindsey
Bohrer-Yardley (Oneida, N.Y.)
,
who was third in the 3,000 steeplechase (11:08).
On
the men's side, the top finisher was junior Prahlad
Genung (Afton, N.Y.), who was 12th in the 3,000 steeplechase
(9:37).
While the distance runners competed at the Bucknell Open, the
rest of both squads traveled to the Virginia Onesty Invitational.
Sophomore Rory Quiller
(West Point, N.Y.)
was
the top Binghamton performer, winning the pole vault (16-0 3/4)
and placing fifth in the 110 hurdles with an IC4A-qualifying
time of 14.42.
Also qualifying for the IC4A meet was the men's 4x100 relay team
of junior Adam
Goldberg (New Rochelle, N.Y.), sophomore Sam
DePaola (Dix Hills, N.Y.), senior Neil
Case (West Winfield, N.Y.) and sophomore Joe
Flucus (Bronx, N.Y.). The quartet placed fifth with a
time of 42.30. In addition, Case ran a personal-best time of
53.38 seconds in the 400 hurdles. He placed fourth in that event
and also qualified for IC4As.
Senior Jared Ketchuck
(Endicott, N.Y.)
was
seventh in the hammer (162-0).
On the women's side, freshman Dayna
Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y.) placed fourth in the triple
jump (38-9 1/2) while senior Lindsay
Warren (Lansing, N.Y.) and freshman Katie Wilmer
(North Syracuse, N.Y.)
tied
for fourth in the pole vault.
Freshman Keisha Short
(Yaphank, N.Y.)
was
seventh in the 400 (57.82).
Up next for both the men's and women's teams is the Larry Ellis
Invitational (held at Princeton) on April 22-23. |
