Track teams outscored by Albany and Syracuse at Syracuse Invitational SYRACUSE, N.Y.--The Binghamton indoor track teams competed in the Syracuse Invitational on Sunday, with each team losing to host Syracuse as well as Albany. The men were defeated 113-58 by the Orangemen and 134.5-46.5 by Albany. On the women's side, Syracuse posted a 122-37 win over the Bearcats, while Albany won by a score of 131-45. Individually for the men, sophomore Hasani Hampden (Freeport, N.Y.) captured the pentathlon, despite competing in two of its events (shot put, pole vault) for the first time. His score of 3,263 points was 138 better than the runner-up from Syracuse. Junior thrower Andrew Cloud (Massapequa, N.Y.) captured the weight throw with a toss of 48-feet, 10-inches. On the women's side, senior Marie Lloyd (Spencerport, N.Y.) and freshman Jaime Stitt (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) each won individual events. Lloyd captured the 500 meter dash, crossing in 1:18.89. Meanwhile, Stitt took the pole vault with a leap of 11-feet, 5.75 inches. Coming up on Saturday, the men's and women's track teams will send team members to both the Collegiate Invitational - held at the New York City Armory - and the Cornell Denault Invitational.
