Bearcats
finish second out of eight teams at George Mason Patriot Classic After dropping their first two games (5-3 to Central Connecticut and 4-1 to Cleveland State), the Bearcats stormed back with wins over George Mason (6-0), Stony Brook (4-1) and Brown (6-4) to advance to the championship game. Cleveland State, however, came away with the title, winning 4-1. Chellis went 8-for-19, with four runs, two home runs, four doubles and five RBI. She hit safely in every game and had a pair of multiple-hit performances. Against conference foe Stony Brook on March 22, Chellis went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI, leading the Bearcats to a 4-1 win. She also drilled solo home runs against Cleveland State on March 22 and against Brown. Including this weeks' games, Chellis now has an 11-game hitting streak. Weeks went 2-0 on the week with a pair of complete-game wins, including one shutout. She tossed a two-hit shutout against George Mason on March 22 while striking out six batters as Binghamton went on to win 6-0. The following day, Weeks struck out four batters while going the distance as Binghamton defeated Brown 6-4. One of the runs Weeks allowed was unearned. Up until the first inning against Brown, Weeks had gone 25 innings without giving up a run and in the process, struck out 25 batters. Yerdon
went 6-for-17 with three doubles, a home run and six RBI for
the week. She drilled a three-run home run against George Mason
on March 22 and went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and a RBI against
Brown on March 23. Yerdon has now hit safely in her last four
games. |
