Softball
team splits doubleheader at Hartford as Weeks tosses seventh
complete-game shutout After shutting out Albany on Tuesday and Colgate on Wednesday, Weeks (8-2) held the Hawks to just three hits while striking out 11 batters and not allowing a walk. It marked her seventh complete-game shutout of the season and lowered her ERA to a microscopic 1.00. She has now struck out 87 batters in 77.0 innings. Binghamton got only four hits for the game but made the most of their opportunities by plating two runs in the third inning and an insurance run in the sixth inning. Things
were different, however, in the second game Hartford scored the
only run of the contest in the bottom of the second inning. Junior
pitcher Shannon Fleishman (Bath, N.Y./ Haverling) pitched
valiantly for the Bearcats, going all six innings while holding
the Hawks to just three hits. Binghamton, however, could not
score the equalizer. Junior outfielder Leigh Ann Savidge (Binghamton,
N.Y./ Seton Catholic) and senior third baseman Jen Richardson
(Wellsville, N.Y.) each had two hits in the second game. Binghamton travels to Hartford for a four-game series against the Hawks, starting Saturday at noon. |
