Vestal, N.Y. Junior outside hitter Kathlene Hockaday had a match-high 24 kills to go along with 14 digs, leading Buffalo (5-6) to a five-game win at Binghamton (3-9) in volleyball action at East Gym tonight. The visiting Bulls prevailed by scores of 19-30, 30-23, 25-30, 30-27 and 16-14. It appeared as if Binghamton had the match in hand, as it lead 13-10 in the decisive fifth game. That prompted Buffalo to call a timeout. From there, however, the Bulls went on a 4-0 run to take a 14-13 advantage. The Bearcats fought off match point but Buffalo sealed the win by scoring the final two points. We hung in there and gave it a good effort but we could have done better with our defense against the serve, said Binghamton head coach Glenn Kiriyama. Its always a battle when it goes five games and we did execute better than we had in our past matches. Freshman setter Amy Brown had 47 assists and a match-high eight block assists for the Bulls. Sophomore outside hitter Molly Schrantz recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs. For Binghamton, sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Smith (North Tonawanda, N.Y./ North Tonawanda) had a career-high 20 kills and junior defensive specialist Shannon Kelly (Ridge, N.Y./ Longwood) had a career-high 31 digs.
