Immediate Release: April 17, 2005 Contact: David O'Brian Phone: 607-777-6478 Binghamton women's lacrosse defeated at No. 10 Boston 20-3 Box Score BOSTON, Mass.--Freshman attack Jenny Hauser scored a game-high six goals, powering No. 10 Boston (11-1, 3-0 AE) to a 20-3 win over visiting Binghamton (3-9, 0-3 AE) in an America East Conference women's lacrosse game on Sunday afternoon at Nickerson Field. The game marked the second time this season that the Bearcats have gone up against a team ranked in the IWLCA Top 20 Poll. Hauser netted three goals in the first half as Boston took a commanding 13-2 lead. She scored 51 seconds into the game but freshman midfielder Leanne Musso (Auburn, N.Y.) deadlocked the game at 1-1 at the 2:24 mark. From there, however, the Terriers ripped off eight unaswered goals in a span of 13:30 to take a 9-1 advantage. Musso scored again to make it 9-2 with 8:49 remaining in the half but Boston closed out the half with four goals in the final 5:34. In the second half, Hauser kept things rolling for Boston with two goals in the opening 4:29 to stretch the lead to 15-2. Senior attack Laura Gabbamonte (Glen Cove, N.Y.) converted a free position shot with 23:55 remaining in the second half to make the score 15-3 but the Terriers reeled off five more goals to close out the game. Boston outshot Binghamton 35-10 for the game. The Bearcats return home for a Friday afternoon game against New Hampshire at 4 p.m. NOTE: Binghamton's other game against a ranked opponent this season was a 20-1 loss to No. 12 Syracuse on March 2. |
