Binghamton loses at Stony Brook 18-4 Box Score STONY BROOK, N.Y.--Freshman center Lauren Wetherell (Bethpage, N.Y.) had three goals and one assist, but Binghamton (0-5, 0-2 AE) was defeated by host Stony Brook (7-4, 2-0 AE) 18-4 in a conference game Saturday afternoon. The Seawolves scored their first goal just 31 seconds into the game and added another only 44 seconds later. The lead grew to 4-0 before the Bearcats got their first goal on a free position shot by Wetherell. Stony Brook, however got four more unanswered goals and wound up with a 12-4 lead heading into halftime. It was all Stony Brook in the second half, as the Seawolves scored six unanswered goals and also saved five BU shots to account for the final margin. For the game, the Seawolves outshot Binghamton 31-21 and had a 31-26 edge in ground balls. Each team had 12 draw controls. Sophomore midfielder Laura Gabbamonte (Glen Cove, N.Y.) had Binghamton's other goal and goalie Allison Steinberg (Pearl River, N.Y.) made six saves in goal. Binghamton returns to action on Sunday at noon with a non-conference game against Central Connecticut State.
