women's lacrosse defeated by New Hampshire 18-6

N.Y.--Jess Burnap and Katie Leland both recorded seven points
to power New Hampshire (8-6, 3-0 AE) to a 18-6 win over host
Binghamton (3-10, 0-4 AE) in an America East Conference women's
lacrosse game on Friday evening at the East Gym Complex.
The Bearcats took the early led on a goal by sophomore Anna
Riordan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) which was assisted senior
attack Laura
Gabbamonte (Glen Cove, N.Y.). UNH struck back with three
goals. Sophomore Danielle
Edwards (Horseheads, N.Y.) closed the gap with a goal 14:35
into the game on an assist from junior Lauren
Wetherell (Bethpage, N.Y). The Wildcats took over the scored
board following the Edwards goal with a 9-0 run to end the half.
In
the second half the Bearcats defense only allowed UNH to score
six goals. The Bearcats offense produced four second half goals,
three by Edwards and the other by sophomore Heather
Grose (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.).
"I am proud of the team, we did the things we had planned
on doing," head coach Emily Edmonston said. "The second
15 minutes of the first half they kept cutting and we could not
stop them. I talked with the team at halftime and we changed
some things to stop them, after that we played much better."
UNH outshot Binghamton 40-15 for the game, the Wildcats won 18
of the 26 drawcontols.
The Bearcats will head to UMBC on Sunday for a 2 p.m. game. |
