Immediate Release: February 4, 2006 KENT, Ohio. - Binghamton wrestling had a solid showing at the Kent State Open on Saturday, accumulating 28 points to finish 15th out of 34 teams. Freshmen Chris Wade (Islip, N.Y.) and Nate Patterson (Ontario, N.Y.) won three matches apiece at 157 and 149 pounds respectively. Wade dropped his opening match before winning three matches in the wrestlebacks, including a fall against Ryan Uber of Edinboro in 2:18. He was eliminated in the consolation quarterfinals with a narrow 7-6 decision. Wade improved to 12-6 on the season. Patterson won his first two matches by decision, and then added another victory in the wrestlebacks. The three victories gave Patterson a team-high 14 wins this season. The Bearcats next compete at the Edinboro Open on February 11. |
