VESTAL, N.Y. - Visiting Buffalo utilized two pins and four major decisions to defeat Binghamton 34-7 in a dual match Sunday afternoon in West Gym. The Bulls (2-0), who earlier in the week toppled 20th-ranked Lock Haven, received pins from 133-pound Mike Trotta and 165-pound Tom Paladino, and won eight of the 10 bouts against the Bearcats (0-1). "We had five freshman - two who were wrestling up weights - and its tough to do against a strong team," BU head coach Mike Fusilli said. "I think there were a lot of good things - our guys at 149, 157, 184 and 197 wrestled real well. They had good efforts, and I was proud of the fact that they held their own and didn't back down." Winning for Binghamton was sophomore 141-pound Josh Ruff (Bainbridge, N.Y./Bainbridge-Guilford) and senior 157-pound Joe Privitere (Johnson City, N.Y.). Ruff recorded six takedowns en route to a 17-5 major decision over Adam Grillo. He is now 4-2 on the season. In his first match back after recovering from a sprained ankle, Privitere scored a 5-1 decision over Labe Black. Privitere raised his career dual match record to 33-10, and in the process, defeated a highly-touted wrestler who has been nationally-ranked this season (19th). "That was the best match Joe has ever wrestled in a BU singlet," Fusilli said. "It wasn't a high-scoring match, but he kept constant pressure on the guy, wrestled smart, and was aggressive. He created two stall calls against Black, and that made a difference in the match. "Josh also wrestled well. He was looking to score points in every position, and wrestled really well in the advantage position." Binghamton will host Army in its next match, Tuesday, November 26. Start time is 7:30 p.m. from East Gym. MATCH RESULTS 125
