Immediate Release: March 19, 2004 ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Junior 141-pound Josh Ruff (Bainbridge, N.Y.) suffered an 8-5 loss to unseeded Steve Esparza of Cal Poly in Friday morning's NCAA Wrestling Championship consolation bracket, ending his season. Ruff went 2-2 at the national tournament, recording a pin and a major decision. He finished his season with a 27-7 record. "Josh fought hard and did the best he could," head coach Mike Fusilli said. "He gave up two takedowns early in the match, and it was hard for him to come back. But it was a great tournament for him. He wound up with a pin and a major, which is pretty tough to do in this tournament. Josh's goal was to do better than last year and he did." |
