WRESTLING Sganga is a two-time Suffolk County runner-up. In this years finals, he lost to three-time state finalist and two-time champ, Pat Flynn, and as a junior, he was defeated by two-time state champion Rob Vaccaro. Last November, Sganga defeated Jermaine Jones, the top-ranked recruit in the nation, who will attend Ohio State. "I
consider Matt to be the second best wrestler in the state at
112 lbs, said Binghamton head coach Mike Fusilli. It's
unfortunate that the NYS High Association only allows one kid
per section to advance to the state tournament in wrestling.
Matt was behind two of Suffolk County's most successful student-athletes
of all-time (Rob Vaccaro and Pat Flynn) the past two years.
I am confident that Matt's talents are at that same level. His
hard work ethic and love for competition will help him to develop
into a great college wrestler for Binghamton. I am very excited
about Matt becoming a Bearcat. |
