Women's
soccer team loses season-opener at Syracuse 7-1 Box Score Syracuse, N.Y. Fielding a team of primarily underclassmen, the Binghamton women's soccer team lost its season-opener at Syracuse, 7-1, on Friday night. It marked the first time the Bearcats have dropped an opening game since 1998. After 24 minutes of scoreless action, the Orangewomen ripped off three goals in a span of 10:13 to jump out to an early 3-0 advantage. Binghamton got a goal back with just 1:48 remaining before the half when freshman forward Danielle White (Haddon Township, N.J.) scored off a pass from senior forward Tracy Kasmarcik (Binghamton, N.Y./ Susquehanna Valley). In the second half, however, Syracuse went on another scoring binge, netting four goals in a span of 15:37 to ice the game. For the game, Syracuse outshot Binghamton 21-9. Freshman goalie Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y./ Greek Olympia) made her first career start and recorded three saves. Binghamton travels to Niagara for a 3 p.m. game on Sunday. NOTE: The seven goals is the most Binghamton has allowed in a game since giving up 11 to Franklin Pierce in 1999. |
