soccer team loses at No. 7 West Virginia 5-0 Box Score WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - For the first time in its history, the Binghamton women's soccer team (5-3) squared off against a NCAA Division I team ranked in the top 10. West Virginia (8-1), which is ranked No. 7 by Soccer America, hosted the Bearcats on Wednesday night and won 5-0. The Mountaineers scored two goals in the first eight minutes of the game and never looked back. West Virginia then added a goal in the final minute of the first half as well as two more goals midway through the second half. "West Virginia is a very, very good team," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "I couldn't be more proud of our team given the team they were up against tonight." For the game, West Virginia outshot Binghamton 31-5. Freshman goalkeeper Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y./ Greece Olympia) made five saves. Binghamton heads to UMass for a 3 p.m. road game on Sunday. |
