tennis blanks St. Bonaventure 7-0 BINGHAMTON, N.Y.--The Bearcats (8-7) swept all six singles matches and posted wins at second and third doubles, defeating the St. Bonavenute Bonnies (2-11) 7-0 on Friday night at the Binghamton Tennis Center. The win was the fifth straight for the Bearcats, the longest since a six-match streak that lasted from April 28-September 16, 1995. Freshman Justina Hakimi (Manhasset, N.Y./Herricks) won her fifth straight match at #1 singles, recording a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Hakimi improves to 12-8 overall this season, and is now 6-5 at the top singles spot. Hakimi and sophomore Alexis Brill (Syosset, N.Y.) were defeated 9-8 (7) in a tie-breaker at the top doubles draw. Brill also played at fourth singles and was a 6-3, 6-1 winner. Junior Janine Sadaka (Great Neck, N.Y.) and senior Amy Weissberg (Syosset, N.Y.) were winners at second and third singles, respectively. Sadaka was za 6-1, 6-3 winner, while Weissberg won 6-1, 6-2. The pair also defeated their St. Bonaventure opponents 8-2 at second doubles. Senior Kristin Jobe (Baytown, Texas/Texas City) and sophomore Amy Linda (Bronx, N.Y./LaGuardia) took the third doubles match 8-2, while each posting singles wins. Jobe won 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles, and Linda was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at sixth singles. The Bearcats begin conference play on Friday, with a 3 p.m. match at the University of Hartford.
