The Binghamton womens tennis team (2-0) swept a pair of dual matches against Fordham and Siena on Sunday. The Bearcats defeated the Rams 4-3 and the Saints 6-1. Its a good way to start the year, head coach Jamie Campbell said. Weve worked hard this fall and to start off the dual season with a 2-0 record is great. Against Fordham, Binghamton took two out of three doubles matches to win the doubles point. They then split the remaining six matches to pull out the narrow victory. In the last and most decisive match of the day, sophomore Amy Linda (Bronx, N.Y./ LaGuardia) won at sixth singles over Alexandra Cazangiu 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. We knew the match against Fordham was going to be tough and when we pulled off the doubles point, we knew that would be a huge help," Campbell said. "Amy really stepped up against Fordham in her singles match. It was a lot of pressure being the last match but she really came through. Senior Kristin Jobe (Texas City, Texas/ Texas City), who came into the day with a 4-1 record in singles action, swept both of her matches at fourth singles. She defeated Elizabeth Murray of Fordham 6-3, 6-0 and triumphed over Besty Brookins of Siena 6-2, 6-0. She also teamed up with Linda at second doubles to pull of a key 9-8 (7-4) win over Sienas team. Kristin continues to play well, Campbell said. She is winning some very important points in her matches and that is making the difference. She and Amy are coming around as a doubles team. Sophomore Alexis Brill (Syosset, N.Y.) also won both of her matches at third singles. She defeated Rali Hristova of Siena 6-4, 5-7 (10-5) and Morgan Bilinley of Fordham 6-3, 6-2. Freshman Justina Hakimi (Manhasset, N.Y./ Herricks) and junior Erin Monaco (Bayside, N.Y./ Cardozo) won a pair of matches at third doubles. They defeated Fordham 8-4 and Siena 8-3. Binghamton
