The Binghamton womens tennis team has received a national letter of intent from Lya Kushnirovich (Brooklyn, N.Y), who is currently a senior at Brooklyn Technical High School. She will join Binghamton for the start of the 2003-04 academic year. Kushnirovich has had a standout career at Brooklyn Technical. She has been undefeated in her three years on the team and was named the team MVP last season. In addition, Kushnirovich has led her squad to the city championship twice and has been honored with the teams Sportsmanship Award. In the United States Tennis Associations (USTA) Eastern Section, Kushnirovich is currently ranked No. 21 in the 18-under age group. "Lya is an extremely powerful player who will immediately impact our program, head coach Jamie Campbell said. Her serve and her ground strokes are the strongest part of her game. Not only is she an exceptional player, but also an excellent student. We are looking forward to having her on the team next year." |
