women's tennis beats Quinnipiac 4-3

N.Y.-- Sophomore
Jenn Naegeli (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) won the decisive match
at No. 5 singles, leading Binghamton to a 4-3 win over Quinnipiac
in women's tennis action Sunday afternoon at Cornell University.
The win climaxed five and a half hours of action between the
two schools.
Naegeli was down 4-1 in the decisive third set of her match against
Amanda Petruzzi. With the overall score of the match tied at
3-3, hers was the last match to conclude. She rallied to to win
6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (3).
Freshman Juliana Umeki (Mogidas Cruises, Brazil) and junior
Lya Kushnirovich (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each won their singles
and doubles matches. Umeki defeated Jaqueline Herb 2-6, 6-2,
6-0 at No. 3 singles and teamed up with junior Zeynep Altinay
(Ankara, Turkey) to win 8-3 at second doubles. Kushnirovich,
meanwhile, came back to beat Jaquelyn Visinski 3-6, 6-3, 6-0
and joined sophomore Gayarthri Balasundar (Syosset, N.Y.)
to win 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
