Binghamton Cross Country inks Chris Gaube to National Letter of Intent

VESTAL, N.Y.-- The Binghamton University Cross Country team has announced the signing of Chris Gaube (Vestal, N.Y.), a senior at nearby Vestal High School. He will compete for the Bearcats in both cross country and track starting next fall.

Gaube won the Section 4A cross country title as a junior and placed third in the Section 4AA race earlier this month. After placing ninth in the New York State Class A championship last year, he will compete in the Class AA race on Saturday in Queensbury, N.Y.

In track, Gaube's best times are 4:34 in the mile and 9:56 in the two mile.

"We are very excited to have Chris joining us," head coach Annette Acuff said. "He is a dedicated runner and a tough competitor in big meets. He will be a great addition to our team."

"I'm looking forward to coming to Binghamton," Gaube said. "I hope to contribute right away and its nice for me to be so close to home."

Gaube's older brother Tom is a pitcher on the Bearcats' baseball team.

PLEASE NOTE: Vestal High School competed at the Class A level during the 2004-05 academic year before moving up to the Class AA level this year.
