Advising for Biology Majors & Minors

The Department of Biological Sciences offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. Both degrees require understanding of core areas, such as cell biology, molecular genetics, ecology, and evolution, while also providing an opportunity to select among a wide variety of courses in other disciplines of biology. Degree requirements are given here

The B.A. in Biology provides an opportunity to sample widely across our curriculum, work toward a double major, or to pursue a curriculum that is rich in courses offered by other departments. You can follow your interest in liberal arts or pursue a curriculum tailored to the admission requirements for training in medicine and other health-care professions.

The B.S. in Biology is appropriate for students who seek more depth and specialization within biology to prepare them for graduate school and lab and field-based careers in biology.

We also offer a minor in Biological Sciences. Degree requirements are given here.

Students wishing to declare a major or minor in Biology should read the information posted in Declaring and Fulfilling the Major and meet with a Biology faculty advisor; their hours are posted here. Answers to many common questions are posted under FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).
