Established in 1996 to honor Wanda Bartle, the wife of first University president Glenn G. Bartle, the Wanda Bartle/Barnes & Noble Book Awards support two separate awards: one for the spring 2010 semester and a second award is for the fall 2010 term; the University Women and Campus Bookstore will award each recipient a semester's worth of textbooks. Applicants must be female undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 BU GPA with proof of financial aid (transfer students must be in their second semester at Binghamton and their GPA must include 12+ Binghamton credits). Applicants must also be involved in community service and/or intend to enter a profession oriented toward helping others. Apply to University Women by letter with a brief personal history, area of academic study, most recent Binghamton GPA, description of community service and professional career plans. Applicants must also attach the following with the letter: proof of financial aid, one letter of reference from a University faculty/staff member or community supervisor and a resumé. Include your local mailing address, phone number and e-mail address. Submit all materials by Dec. 11 to Linda Lisman, EOP Tutorial Center, LN-2445, Binghamton University, Binghamton, NY 13902.
