This internship is supervised jointly by Caregiver Services and Information and Assistance (I&A), units within the Broome County Office for Aging.
Unlike many health and human service-related internships, which may emphasize clerical duties, this program offers students extensive opportunities for direct client interaction. Besides writing articles and updating or creating brochures, the intern may be able to participate in assessing clients’ needs in the community setting, and in helping clients to navigate available resources by collaborating with various health and social service professionals within this highly multidisciplinary department.
The position is flexible in terms of overall length and weekly time commitment. Applicants should be comfortable with self-directed work, enjoy working with seniors, and be enthusiastic about addressing the challenges of eldercare in our aging society.
The position is unpaid. However, we are committed to working with you to develop an internship experience that will utilize your gifts and help you to meet your educational and professional goals.
For more information or to set up an interview, please contact Lisa Schuhle, Caregiver Services Coordinator, at email@example.com. You are also required to fill out a Broome County Government employment application. The application can be downloaded at http://gobroomecounty.com/files/personnel/pdfs/EmployApp.pdf.
Thank you for your interest. We look forward to working with you!
