Project Description
We are a constituency-based organization, making it easier for homeowners, renters, landlords, not-for-profits and small businesses to participate in energy efficiency programs offered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). In addition to cutting waste and saving people money through their utility bills, it helps the environment be reducing the greenhouse gas emissions and helps homeowners live in a more comfortable and healthier home. Interns and volunteers will participate in: Outreach/Advertisement: Community outreach to all eight counties of the Southern Tier. PPEF staff helps educate homeowners, community leaders, business owners, and the general public on the benefits of energy efficiency through tabling, media, and PowerPoint presentations. Research: PPEF staff utilizes the internet, phone banking, networking and partnering with other organizations to promote the awareness of the program. Case-Management: Following up with clients already involved in the program through phone calls, e-mails, direct mail, and updating our database to help customers with all necessary materials, contractor questions, as well as financial assistance to complete the retrofit process.

Other Requirements

Skills: Excellent verbal, telephone, reading and writing skills; data entry, Microsoft Office, and computer research skills, technological proficiency; ability to multitask and work in a collaborative setting; people skills. Commitment: All students are expected to work 10 hours per week during work hours. Your time commitment is flexible. Credit: This internship is 4 credits. There will be a midterm and final paper about the program according to your professor's specifications.
