Project Description
This is the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Program / Green Jobs Green New York Home Energy Efficiency Program. The four main components of this program are: Outreach, Advisement, Research, and Case-Management • Outreach and Advisement: Community outreach to all eight counties of the Southern Tier. Our organization, the Public Policy and Education Fund (PPEF), works with state and local officials, as well as different groups, organizations, homeowners, not-for-profits, and small businesses to promote energy efficiency. Our program works to spread awareness to area homeowners about free or reduced cost comprehensive home energy assessments to upgrade their homes to retrofit. PPEF staff helps educate homeowners, community leaders, business owners, and the general public on the benefits of energy efficiency through tabling, media, and PowerPoint presentations. • Research: PPEF staff utilizes the internet, phone banking, networking and partnering with other organizations to promote the awareness of the program. • Case-Management: Following up with clients already involved in the program through phone calls, e-mails, direct mail, and updating our database to help customers with all necessary materials, contractor questions, as well as financial assistance to complete the retrofit process. Skills: Excellent verbal, telephone, reading, and writing skills; data entry, Microsoft Office, and computer research skills, technological proficiency; ability to multitask and work in a collaborative setting; people skills Commitment: 10 hours per week during work hours. Your time commitment is flexible. Credit: This internship is 4 credits. There will be a mid-term and final paper about the program according to your Professor’s specifications.
