Get to know the city
Located downtown, students in the College of Community and Public Affairs receive an advanced hands-on education, while agencies and educational institutions get the tools and resources they need to thrive.
Living and studying downtown is a unique experience for our students as they become a member of the community outside of the classroom.
Bringing programs and opportunities to the Southern Tier also improves quality of life for residents and makes the local community a place our students enjoy living — whether it's only during their education or for their lifetime.
What started as a simple resident-led initiative as the River Crawl has expanded to a diverse and full-blown River Trails Summer Program. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the riverfront.
The Binghamton Farmers Market returns each year with more vendors, products, music and events. Located on Collier Street next to the Court House green, the market starts midday every Tuesday and Friday.
The first Friday of each month is the First Friday Art Walk, presented by the Gorgeous Washington Street Association. This event features a myriad of 35-45 art venues, varying each month. You can enjoy art openings, gallery hopping, music, dance, theater, fine dining, entertainment and more. Most venues and activities are located in downtown Binghamton. The Art Walk runs from 6 - 9 p.m.
