What Can be Included in Your File? All materials submitted to a credentials file become the property of the Career Development Center . Items accepted for inclusion in a credentials file are: résumé, transcripts, course list, reference letters and teacher certification materials. You can verify your file contents at any time through the BUSI Web Center. Items That YOU Submit at the CDC or Through the Mail Transcripts: One copy of transcripts from the undergraduate and graduate institutions attended may be included in a credentials file. Contact the registrar at each institution (including Binghamton ) and request that one official copy of your transcript be sent to CDC. All transcripts must be sent directly to CDC by the issuing office. Student copies are not accepted . To keep an updated transcript in CDC, repeat this process after each semester until a final transcript is submitted. Remember: Whenever you are asked to provide an official transcript, you must contact the Office of the Registrar who sends this directly to the graduate/professional school or employer. CDC does not issue official transcripts. Reference Letters: Letters can be confidential or non-confidential. You decide what type you will request. The CDC does not have a preference and your file can contain both types. While a specific number of references is not prescribed, three to six references are recommended. More letters do not necessarily make a better set of credentials. Confidential Reference Letters: If you wish to waive your right of access to the confidential reference letter you must use the CDC Confidential Reference Letter Form. Before soliciting the reference you must sign the waiver of right to access at the top of the form. All reference letters must come to CDC directly from the author and must be originals with original signatures. |
