Our laboratory is synthesizing and manipulating functional nanocrystals. We are also investigating the relevant physical and chemical phenomena on these size- and shape-controlled nanocrystals. The emphases are advanced processing technology, shape-control and formation mechanisms of nanocrystals, surface structures of nanocrystals, superstructure of nanocrystal assembly.
Interested materials include (but not limited to): Pt-based binary nanopolyhedra; nanophased semiconductors, low-dimensional oxides and other systems.
Our currently interested topics consist of pressure-induced phase and superstructural study of semiconductor nanoparticles; Investigation of nanostructured LiFePO4 and related Li-ion Battery materials; Electrocatalytic study on shape-controlled noble metal/alloy nanocrystals (potential novel fuel-cell catalysts for both anode and cathode); Photovoltaic study of MEG semiconductor nanocrystals; functional QDs as biomedical probes.
