Next Week is National Non-Traditional Student Week!

Posted by Sarah Roche on November 3, 2011

The Continuing Education and Outreach Office has been brewing up a bunch of exciting news lately. Not only did they create a Binghamton University chapter of a non-traditional student honor society, but they have created a number of great events for National Non-Traditional Student Week.

Friday, November 4 10:30 - 11:30AM.  UU 252,  Nontraditional students are invited to breakfast at Discovery’s Second Monthly Breakfast for Commuter Students in UU252.  Alexa Schmidt, Sodexho’s registered dietitian, will speak to attendees. To confirm, contact Aaisha at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Monday November 7 3-5 pm, in LN1324, the former Room C in the Office of Continuing Education and Outreach, (CEO). CEO is in an annex to the library and is next to the computer center. Meet and Greet.  Mingle with other Nontrads and Continuing Education and Outreach staff. Register for drawing. Refreshments provided.

Tuesday November 8, Sign up for a drawing for a Care Package for Non-trads, and take a snack and water to go.  From 9-5 while supplies last, at the Office on Continuing Education and Outreach,  LN1322.

Wednesday November 9 10-11:30AM LN1324 (in CEO offices). Resources of the Discovery Program. Nontrads need to know about this wonderful resource!  Hear how can help you be a more successful student.

Wednesday November 9 1:15-3:00  LN1324(in the Office of Continuing Education and Outreach) Prior Learning Assessment for College Credit. Hear how you can earn college credits for what you already know.

Friday November 11 from 11-12:15 UU 124. Almost Frugal Workshop. Hear and share money saving tips. Non-trads, please confirm directly with Roni at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by noon on Wednesday November 11.

Saturday November 12 from 1-3. Billiards, Bowling, Refreshments and Drawing for Care Packages.  Refreshments for under grad and graduate non trads.  CEO will pay for bowling, billiards and pizza.  Bring quarters to play ping pong, and video games. Co-sponsored by the Binghamton University Parents Collective.

What a great listing of events! I, for one, am going to leave work a bit early on Monday in order to make the meet & greet. I will definitely be stopping by the CEO office on Tuesday to sign up for the drawing. If you don’t know about the Discovery Center, definitely attend that seminar-The Discovery Center is a great tool that most non-trads aren’t aware of. I am really excited about Saturday’s event. I can’t wait to meet other non-trads at these events! If you have any further questions about these events, contact Roni O’Geen at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Just as note to those of you who don’t know where the CEO Office is located, look for the door in the walkway between the library building and the computer building.

Have a great National Non-Traditional Student Week!

I’ve never heard of non-traditional student week, but it’s a great idea!  I wish they would have had something like that when I went through college.
