Alumni Community

Throughout the decades of its existence, Binghamton University’s Department of Comparative Literature has educated a multitude of scholars working in myriad languages, national literatures, historical periods, genres, theoretical approaches, etc. The department has decided that it would be beneficial to you, its alumni, to be able to draw on this rich and diverse resource. Our aim in establishing this online community is to create a forum for professional networking, connecting with alumni who share similar and/or related intellectual interests, and for reconnecting with past classmates. Some of the possibilities for this community include: organizing conferences and/or conference panels (e.g., at MLA or ACLA), coordinating book projects, collaborating on journal articles, establishing contacts for the job market, and posting job announcements. Furthermore, this forum will enable the department to inform you about events that it is organizing: guest speakers, lectures, graduate student conferences, reunions, etc.

At the moment, we are developing this community through our very own Facebook page, which may be viewed at this link: http://www.facebook.com/binghamtoncomplitalumni. Please take a moment to click the "Like" button to view our page. Please note that, even if you are not a member of Facebook, you will still be able to view this page and be apprised of our activities without having to go through any additional registration procedures. We have decided to establish a Facebook presence for two reasons: firstly, many of you perhaps already have a Facebook account, and secondly, we believe that this will allow for the most direct and interactive communication among the members of our wide alumni community as well as current students.

We are excited about this project and look forward to you helping us build this community. We sincerely hope that it will benefit your professional and scholarly endeavors. Thank you for your time.
