April 12, 2015: "Chinese Bridge"Chinese Proficiency Competition
On April 12, two BU students, Alyssa Berkowitz and Daniel McMonagle, won prizes at the Northeast USA round of the "Chinese Bridge" competition at UMass Boston, in the advanced and intermediate categories! Daniel won trip to China, and Alyssa will go on to the final rounds in Changsha this July. Various Chinese-language media sources featured this competition:
March 24, 2015: "Reshuffling the Past"
On March 24, CICO worked with Roberson Museum and Science Center in Binghamton to hold an opening ceremony for a modern Chinese ink art exhibit called "Reshuffling the Past." This exhibit, organized by Hanban, features 40 splendid works of art by eight renowned contemporary Chinese artists. One of these artists, Huai Yi, came to Binghamton to lecture on his work during the opening ceremony. Over 200 people attended, browsing the art and experiencing Chinese culture. Provost Don Nieman made a welcome speech; BU President Harvey Stenger, as well as Hanban representatives Zhu Dan and Han Bing, attended as well.
